Project Title | Data Collection for the 2022 Subnational Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) Survey |
Date | August 2022 – January 2023 |
Country | Nigeria (36 States and the FCT) |
Client | Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) |
Short Description | This survey aimed at collecting insights from micro, small and medium-sized businesses (enterprises with less than 200 employees) in Nigeria on the ease of doing business in the 36 states of Nigeria and the FCT. The survey asked questions on business needs, priorities and pain points. Responses from this survey helped develop the assessment of states for a Subnational Ease of Doing Business Index, and consequently a report. This report will summarise states’ performance on various aspects of doing business, and also provide a view on interventions that states can make to improve the business environment for MSMEs. The survey was done in two phases, the first phase consisted of qualitative (FGDs and KIIs), and quantitative data collection while the second phase involved just quantitative data collection. In the first phase, 37 FGDs (1 for each state and the FCT), 58 KIIs (ranging from 1 to 3 in different states) and 1,424 quantitative responses cutting across micro, small and medium scale enterprises across the 10 priority sectors were collected. In the second phase meanwhile, quantitative data amounting to 1,537 were collected for the purpose of the report. |
